the last day of February!?!

Okay, so I am not turning out to be the best blogger ever.
It's somewhat quiet at the house... Dean is at the Y, Logan is playing Rescue Heroes & Talon is looking for "cheats" for his PS2 game. I'll see what I can catch you up on.

I am still trying to figure out where to get a picture of my hero patient, Issac, to put on-line. The gal who took the photos has left TNT & I have no contact info on her :( I'll try harder this next week to get a pic of him.

I train in splits. That means I jog a little then walk a little. The prefered method is to run/jog more than I walk. And thank goodness I do accomplish that most days. My Saturday runs are a steady 4 minute jog & 1 minute walk. Unless I am on the Vassault hill at the end of a Saturday run. I really do not like that hill! On a good day I'll run as much as 6 minute stretches. Yes, I realize some of my younger running friends are thinking this old lady is a little on the slow side; but I can run those splits for close to 2 hours now.

Where have my runs taken me lately??
Two weeks ago I got to run over the Narrows bridge (& back)! It was gorgeous! The view was amazing although I admit to being a bit closer to the cars than the railing :)
This past Wednesday was to be interval training at the local college track. Well, at 4:45 I was sitting on the couch watch a combination of rain & snow fall! I'm thinking to myself that I really do want to go to practice because at my pace some interval advice could really do something! But the cold! and the rain! and the snow!? Forty-five minutes later I am standing at the track in all my gear with my 2 coaches. No one else from the team showed up that evening. Coach David & coach Laura & I talked about what I should do. I told them to go on home & I would do as ordered. The beautiful thing in all that yucky weather is that Daivd & Laura stayed the whole time & it was awesome! I ran faster than I had trained to date! And I slept like a baby that night :)
Today was a nice change of scenery as we went to the Orting trail. My run guided me between Christmas tree farms & an amazing view of the mountain. The sun came & went between the clouds for my 8 miles along the trail. Very nice...

In 9 weeks I'll be in Vancouver with 9 other team-mates to run, jog & walk our 13.1 or 26.2 miles. I am already praying for sunshine & temperatures a tad higher than our Saturdays that are still hovering around 40degrees.

And in ase you are wondering, I still have some funds to raise. So, PLEASE go to my website at http://pages.teamintraining.org/wa/vancouvr09/hburke and make a donation. Every dollar makes a difference!
OR, you can call me about the Luau for Leukemia my team members & I are holding March 21st. For you $25 ticket price you get great food, a cash bar, a raffle ticket, some good rock by Ratz on Prozac (a local band of 4 doctors) & a bid (or several) on some super silent auction items.

You know where to find me!
